Terms of Service
Effective: May 8, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Inkwell Notary KC website and notarial services. By booking an appointment or using our services, you agree to these terms.
1.Services we provide
Inkwell Notary KC provides notarial services within the lawful authority of a Notary Public commissioned in Missouri and (when separately commissioned) Kansas. Services include:
- Standard acknowledgments and jurats
- Notarization of affidavits, declarations, and sworn statements
- Real estate document notarization
- Estate document notarization (powers of attorney, wills, trusts)
- Mobile visits to public locations only — we do not perform home visits
- Remote online notarization (when commissioned)
- Apostille document coordination
2.Booking and confirmation
We offer two booking paths:
Office hours bookings (Monday–Friday, 10 am–12 pm): booked through our online calendar. These appointments are auto-confirmed at the time of booking.
Special service requests (after-hours, weekends, mobile, remote online, apostille): submitted through our request form. Each request is reviewed and confirmed by Jennifer Grizzle by email, typically within an hour during business hours. Your booking is not complete until you receive a confirmation email.
We reserve the right to decline any request that falls outside our service authority, our location policy, or our scheduling availability.
3.Payment policy
Payment is due at the time of service.
- We accept card and contactless payment (chip cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) processed through Square.
- We do not accept cash or checks.
- The Missouri statutory notarial fee is $5 per signature notarized.
- Service fees apply on top of statutory fees and are listed on our website.
- Mobile and after-hours services may include travel and convenience surcharges that will be quoted at the time of confirmation.
4.Cancellation and no-show policy
We ask that you cancel or reschedule at least one hour before your scheduled appointment. There is no cancellation fee — we just appreciate the heads-up so the slot can be released.
For mobile visits where travel has already begun, repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in a service or travel fee being assessed before future bookings are accepted.
5.What you need to bring
For your appointment, please bring:
- The unsigned document(s) to be notarized — the notary must witness your signature
- A current government-issued photo ID
- Any additional signers, if applicable
- Your method of payment
6.What notarization does not include
Notarization confirms identity and verifies that you signed willingly and knowingly. Notarization does not:
- Constitute legal advice
- Verify the truth or accuracy of statements in the document
- Verify that the document is legally enforceable
- Constitute attorney–client communication or legal representation
7.Limitation of liability
We perform notarial services within the lawful authority of a Notary Public. Our maximum liability for any claim arising from a notarial service is limited to the amount paid for that service, except where applicable law (including Missouri and Kansas notary statutes and applicable surety bonds) provides otherwise.
We are not responsible for the consequences of notarized documents, the actions of other parties to those documents, or the legal effect of those documents.
8.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Jackson County, Missouri.
9.Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The current version is always posted at inkwellnotarykc.com/terms.html. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
